Universities in Nepal play a very a important role by not only producing quality human resources for various sectors of the economy but also providing opportunities to different sections of the youth to have the experience of shared living. Out of the six universities of Nepal, the Siddhartha University has not yet got the approval of the govt., although it is the only Buddhist University in the country. Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu University, Pokhara University, Purbanchal University and Mahendra Sanskrit University are other five universities of Nepal.
With 60 constituent colleges and 278 affiliated colleges, Tribhuvan University has the highest number of students enrolled in various fields of study. With 67 affiliated colleges and 3 constituent colleges, Purbanchal University has second highest number of colleges under its fold. Pokhara University, Mahendra Sanskrit University and Kathmandu University have 27, 25 and 13 colleges respectively.
