Travel to Norway

Introduction

Transportation in Norway is fairly advanced partly due to its geographical location. All the modern means of transport like buses, cars, trams and trains, and ferries are regularly available. Traffic is more or less swift except for occasional jams. The rail network in the country is rather limited, but services to major cities are available. Northern part of the country are, however, not accessible by trains. Those willing to travel within Scandinavia can avail of ScanRail pass facility. Norway is synonymous with water. Traveling by river, lakes and fjords is also popular. The Flybussen service that shuttles to and from Norwegian airports can be availed of when one arrives in the country. For traveling in buses one needn’t buy tickets in advance. Rather, fares can be paid after boarding the buses. Train tickets can be bought from the railway office, however there is a provision to buy single tickets on the train itself.

Almost all the means of transport like buses, cars, trams, and trains have fairly routine and quick services in this Scandinavian nation. Buses are available in almost every part of the country and ply regularly. Tickets can be bought from the drivers on the buses. Fares depend on the number of zones one is traveling. Train services are also fairly advanced but there are no services in the northern parts of the country. Tickets can be bough from the railway office or from the train itself (single tickets). Ferries that pass through the picturesque fjords are also a popular means of transport in the country. It is advised to students to buy season tickets as they come cheaper and also have more number of rides.
